As this board has grown, so has the necessity for closer moderation to ensure a happy environment. To this end, I am posting some things that have been
brought to our attention that we must address.
On Matchmaking and Recommendation: We have had several post and complaints concerning these topics. SW is meant to help people be as knowledgeable as possible about the poly life so they can have the best chance of success. If families forms, we are pleased and excited and will offer any support we can but we are trying to educate people. Matchmaking and personal recommendations have caused some issues for people, either by being approached by unwanted people or being recommended or paired for with someone they don't want to be associated to. Due to complaints, keep recommendations and matchmaking off board or we will have to take action.
Off board activities: Some have complained that so and so are doing such and such off the board. Understand please, unless it is illegal and places someone in danger (abuse as an example), we cannot police people's off board activities. We can only manage what happens on the board. If you and John Doe are having a flame war through personal email or being harassed in Yahoo Messenger or ICQ, we can't police them. The only exception to this is if it is evident that someone is a poser (fake) or harassing multiple members of the board for pure spite. But I will say this, we will look at such complaints individually. But if this is happening on SW, we will intervene as necessary.
Request to RESTRICTED sections of the board: The sections are restricted for a reason--to create a private place where individuals can discuss topics of a more personal nature or with people who are in similar situations. You will not be granted access to a restricted section is you have never posted.
You will NOT be granted access to a restricted section if you have NEVER posted.
We have request from people to access different sections but we have no info on them. They want to be part of Femme or Realistic but we don't even know if they are a man or woman! It does not matter how many times you request, if you don't post and we don't know you, you will not be granted access. In addition, creating multiple accounts under different names will not grant you access. Yuku does give us the ability to see if a person is creating multiple accounts. It is a tedious process to shift through but it has saved us from having people access areas they shouldn't access. In some cases multiple accounts are expected (a husband and wife as example). But if you write one post under one name saying your a single woman and another post under another name saying your a married man, we will not grant you access to any restricted forum. Because of multiple request to access restricted sections under different names, we have a backlog of request and have to take time to shift through them all to find the posers from the real deal. BTW, if you think someone is fake, please email me privately so I can investigate.
